Whether you’re a diehard soccer fan, or just curious about the quadrennial phenomenon, there are plenty of spots to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup around Connecticut. A few local bar and restaurant suggestions, some hosting specials, to get you started:

The Half Door, 270 Sisson Ave., Hartford, opens for each World Cup game at least 30 minutes before kickoff, with $4 Carlsberg beers and rotating food and Euro bottle specials. (Full schedule here.) 860-232-7827, thehalfdoor.com.

Ocho Cafe Tacos & Tequila, 330 N. Main St., West Hartford, offers $5 margaritas and happy hour pricing in its bar area during all World Cup games. 860-310-3063, ochocafe.com.

The Polish National Home, 60 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford, will run exclusive food and drink specials when Poland plays on June 19, 24 and 28. Information here. 860-247-1784, polishhomect.org.

The Tavern Downtown, 201 Ann Uccello St., Hartford, will live-stream 12 matches from June 17 to July 15. (Schedule here.) Vaughan’s Public House, 59 Pratt St., Hartford, will show all the games and open early for some, including Egypt vs. Uruguay at 8 a.m. June 15. Additional early hours will depend on game, and draft specials will change game to game. 860-882-1560, irishpublichouse.com.

World of Beer, 73 Isham Road B-30, West Hartford, will open early for games at 10 a.m. and show all matches from that time forward. Bobby V’s, 11 Schoephoester Road, Windsor Locks, plans to show all the games and will open early at 10:30 a.m. from Thursday until June 24 and at 10 a.m. from June 25 to July 15. Buckets of Bud or Bud Light will be $20. Information here. 860-627-5808, bobbyvsrestaurant.com/windsor-locks.

Bobby V’s, 268 Atlantic St, Stamford, also plans to show all the games and will also be open early at 10:30 a.m. from Thursday until June 24 and at 10 a.m. from June 25 to July 15. Costa del Sol, 901 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, will try to show all the World Cup games but will definitely show any Spanish matches, starting with Spain v. Portugal at 2 p.m. June 15. The restaurant and bar will stay open in the afternoons, when the restaurant usually closes, if there is a game, with drinks and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. 860-296-1714, costadelsolhartford.com.

La Familia, a new Bolivian restaurant at 144 Albany Turnpike in Canton, will be airing World Cup games. The restaurant features an upstairs pool hall area with dartboards, foosball, TVs and a jukebox. 860-693-6933, facebook.com/LaFamiliaBolivianRestaurant.

Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants will air the World Cup games, with food and drink specials and early game-time hours at select Connecticut locations. Fans can enjoy five traditional wings for $5 during games, as well as game day specials on select domestic and import draft beers in June and July including Budweiser, Bud Light, Modelo Especial and Heineken.
